Pennsylvania man sentenced for Internet fraud
Friday November 28, 2003
(Providence-AP) -- A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for defrauding Internet auction site users by selling nonexistent merchandise.
Prosecutors say 20-year-old Ryan Craig of Lancaster, Pennsylvania conspired with a North Kingstown man to auction nonexistent items.
Craig and 34-year-old Arthur Jordan convinced bidders to wire money to a bank account in South Kingstown.
Prosecutors say they defrauded about 40 victims out of at least 77-thousand dollars. Craig was sentenced in Providence earlier this week.
He was also ordered to make restitution of 58-thousand dollars.
Jordan pleaded guilty in June of last year and is free on bond pending sentencing.
