Clearwater, Florida, USA -- Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security solutions, today announced that it has received the PC World Magazine Best Buy award for its antispyware tool, CounterSpy.
In a review of seven antispyware products, PC World gave CounterSpy its Best Buy award for delivering the highest spyware detection rate. CounterSpy was found to be the most capable antispyware program, providing an overall scanning efficiency of 85%.
According to the PC World review, "Sunbelt Software's CounterSpy, our new Best Buy, proved the most capable of the products we tested, with the highest detection rates, cleanest interface, and fastest scan speeds. And its $20 price for a year of updates and tech support is a bargain."
Some highlights of the tests included:
CounterSpy had the fastest scanning speeds, taking only one minute to perform a complete scan of a system with 2.7GB of data.
CounterSpy was the only product that was able to shut down and remove the tenacious WinTools from their system.
CounterSpy caught 100% of both unwanted Browser Helper Objects (BHOs) and new additions to a browser's menu.
The review, which is in the April issue of PC World Magazine, featured CounterSpy from Sunbelt Software, Webroot Spysweeper, Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE, Intermute Spysubtract, Spybot Search and Destroy, Computer Associates' (NYSE: CA) PestPatrol, Aluria Spyware Eliminator, McAfee (NYSE: MFE) AntiSpyware, and Allume (OTC BB: IMSI.OB) Internet Cleanup.
