The three largest computer makers--Dell, Hewlett-Packard and IBM--have started selling desktops and notebooks with so-called trusted computing hardware, which allows security-sensitive applications to lock down data to a specific PC...Largely a footnote in 2004, the technology is set to take off this year, with the top 3 PC makers shipping laptops and desktops equipped with hardware security. Dell, the last holdout, announced that it had added the security technology to its latest line of notebooks on Feb. 1. IBM as a PC company no longer exists and is soley a name in the hands of foreign business now, so one can only theorise what they are putting into US computers.

H.P. who bought out all the broken down leftovers that sunk Compaq should not even be allowed to sell their systems.

And Dell, aside from Compaq who's now dead for all intensive purposes, has some of the worst PC support of any major company so lets prey to the silicon gods that no one has any actual trouble with this hardware.

Fortunately, by law, these companies can not sell you products you do not care to puchase and the chips can, and most likely, will be removed by most.
