Gov't Security
The Register is reporting on a new net porn bill that was signed by the governor of Utah. This bill is designed to protect children from Internet pornography. The bill requires ISPs to block harmful websites to minors which will be deemed by the Attorney General's office.

As someone who spent a great deal of time living outside the US, I consider the very notion of state sanctioned censorship of a subject (sex) that not a single state of the US will agree upon defining.

The US already tries to regulate sex based solely upon age (a factor of no relevance) and that age ranges from 14-25 depending upon the state one is in.
No consideration is given to maturity, mentality or education (or in the case of public schools, de-education).

And where will it stop?
Have people forgotten already it was less then a century ago that even shows an ankle was considered porn?

It is true that the US suffers severe over population and that their are plenty of disturbed persons taking advantage of others, but such things are matter for the people to decide and not government!

I am appalled that a Governor , of all people, would ever even consider legalizing such unrestrained censorship.

Where will it stop?
What age?
How soon before art is abolished?
How soon before every state has conflicting laws on the subject? The states can't currently agree upon ages at this time let alone defining porn...
