ZO6 writes "I have long been a user of Norton Anti Virus products but for some reason the 2005 version just isn't anything like previous versions. Sure it loads easy and is easy to read but I have had more than one problem with it running my CPU usage to the max. My system is an athlon 3200 / 64 bit with twin 250gig sata drives and well over a gig of memory. Before I started using N.I.S. 2005 everything ran smooth but not now. I have fought this problem for well over six months and have been in contact with Norton on many occasions, but the end results are the same. Shut this down or turn this off is not an option I care to hear. If everything ran fine before I installed N.I.S. 2005, why should I turn off programs I have spent good money for and enjoy (or used to before this mess)?AS told to me by Norton, Either live with it or change my security system. You can guess which way I am leaning "

I am a former owner of NAV 2004 and Norton Personal Firewall 2004. I purchased them from my former internet provider for a discounted price. After some infections I became frustrated with Norton. Sure maybe my surfing habits at the time werent to wise but Trend Micros Free Virus scanner found viruses/trojans on my comp that Norton didnt. I researched Trend Micro a bit and found agreeable numbers that suggested overall protection was equal between the two products. Plus Trend Micro Internet Security comes with AV application and a Firewall. All this at a decent price plus a mail in rebate. Needless to say I purchased Trend Micro Internet Security 2005. I Uninstalled my Norton Products and set out to install Trend Micro. After the Norton uninstall I began to get error dialog boxes and some system instability. This made me angry. It was a major hassle trying to figure out and correct the bugs and errors I recieved due to uninstalling Norton. I had to re install my operating system to make them go away. A major pain. Now I am totally content with Trend Micro. Its simplier easier to use, less expensive, and can u believe they offer free telephone support! I know I sound like a representative for Trend Micro but I am not. I am just really satified with their product and I will never go back to Norton. :)
