PCs of Small Businesses Protected for Free from Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Rootkits, Spyware and other Malicious Attacks with Prevx Offer

Derby, England – Dec. 4, 2006 – Prevx, a leading developer of anti-malware software, today announced that it is offering free Prevx1 Business Starter packs to companies with 25-250 employees – those most vulnerable to PC attacks. Companies accepting the offer can go to www.prevx.com/startnow and receive a year’s protection for up to 5 PCs. Prevx1 is a revolutionary IT security product that keeps computers free from viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, rootkits and other malicious attacks. This offer of free malware protection for a year is available to SMBs that sign up by Feb. 1, 2007.

“Prevx is so certain that our product is the best on the market, that we want small business customers to try it and see for themselves how we detect and solve malware problems that the other vendors simply don’t catch,” said Mel Morris, CEO of Prevx. “We know for a fact that writers of malicious code focus on SMBs because they often lack fundamental security on their PCs and networks. This offering to small businesses is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our expertise.”

Prevx helps protect consumers and businesses by working alongside current anti-virus software or as a standalone product, defending users from attacks current security vendors don’t catch. Installation of Prevx takes only a few minutes and does NOT require users to uninstall any other anti-virus or anti-spyware software. It simply runs along-side the other software with no conflicts and uses few additional system resources.

A June 2006 report from Forrester Research states that small businesses will increase spending on security by 66 percent this year over last year. With security a top concern among small businesses across the country, and many security analysts evangelizing a multi-layered approach, Prevx’s offer of free malware detection and prevention comes at a good time for potential customers.

One such company, New York-based Tele-Verse Communications, turned to Prevx after a Trojan had crippled the business telephony service provider’s Windows 2000 servers.

“Prevx was able to solve our problem and remove the Trojan in one fell swoop,” said Tele-Verse Operations Manager Scott Rendell, who oversees the company’s 30-person network. “The big anti-virus players offered only long procedures for manually removing the Trojan from our systems.”

Tele-Verse was so impressed with how Prevx performed during a crisis that it plans to install Prevx1 on each of its desktop and notebook computers. “Prevx was easy to use and did exactly what we needed,” said Rendell.

Businesses can try Prevx1 for themselves by downloading a 5-user Business Starter pack for free from www.prevx.com/startnow.

“With virus, spyware and malware threats increasing every day, especially around the holidays, today’s small and medium enterprises are vulnerable. Business owners have fewer resources to fight a continually growing problem, and they do not want to go to bed at night worrying about the impact to the bottom line,” said Andrew Jaquith, security research program manager, Yankee Group. “SMBs should enhance their existing signature-based security defenses with more advanced solutions that detect and block malicious program behaviors.”

About Prevx1

Prevx1 detects and eradicates viruses, worms and other forms of malware using real-time data gathered from its community of over 500,000 computers. This information is used to recognize the genetics and behavior of more than 200,000 new programs every day, of which a daily average of more than 7,000 are determined to be malicious. About Prevx
Prevx Limited is a privately-held, UK-based Internet security company that has developed a revolutionary approach to protecting computers from an ever-escalating assortment of malware for which it recently won the “Cool Vender” award from Gartner Research. Unlike traditional security companies that identify malicious code by its “signature” and then must develop a cure one virus at a time, Prevx’s Community Intrusion Prevention (CIP) system identifies malicious code by its “behavior” and is able to neutralize whole classes of malware before it ever has a recognized signature. As the traditional line of computer defense crumbles under the mounting threat of malware, Prevx is able to use intelligence derived from detailed analysis of its rapidly growing community of users to offer more aggressive, comprehensive and effective protection from malware for the world of interconnected computers. More information about Prevx is available at http://www.prevx.com.

Prevx officially announced on Dec. 4 a program that offers free malware detection for SMBs for all of 2007 by simply downloading Prevx and installing it on up to 5 PCs. For much of 2006, Prevx has been telling the security community and customers at large that they detect many types of malware/spyware/viruses well before the large vendors. This is due to Prevx's ability to detect certain behaviors from the viruses and other malware rather than depend on signatures as many of the other vendors do. By the way, Prevx's definition of malware is viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, rootkits and other malicious attacks.

Prevx's offer for free malware protection to SMBs for all of 2007 is a demonstration of putting their money where their mouth is. The message to SMBs is simple: Try us because we know you'll like us. The company has customers all over the globe who have utilized Prevx when all other attempts to clean computers and systems had failed.

I've placed the press release below for your convenience.

Sincerely,

Rich
