squatters took proxomitron.org |
|
|
rleir writes "There is a link to proxomitron.org on:
http://www.castlecops.com/proxomitron-Contacts.html
Unfortunately, squatters have taken that site so our link needs to change. Maybe it should be proxomitron.info
Not meaning to offend anyone, I would be glad to see a comparison of the open source proxies including RabbIT3,
Muffin, Dansguardian, ..
cheers -- Rick"
Note: A sad day. I spoke with Scott's family shortly after his unfortunate departure, and I think they wanted to keep his wishes and not release the source code. Life goes on, and I'll update the links.

Scott Lemmon, Proxomitron Author, Deceased May 1st 2004 |
|
|
This afternoon (16 Jul) presented itself with grave news when Scott's sister notified me that her brother, Scott R. Lemmon, passed away on the first of May, 2004. Many of you know Scott as the author of Proxomitron, the local web proxy that changed so many peoples lives on the Internet. TechTV presented a whole segment on the Proxomitron application. Scott's genius is very evident in his legacy to the World Wide Web in fighting spyware and protecting their privacy thru Proxomitron. Everyone loved Scott and his work. A simple search of the full P word at Google reveals 259,000 matches. His work touched so many lives.
Note: This article will be shared with Scott's family. So please leave comments if you wish.
Update 17 Jul: Scott was born in January 1968. He passed at the age of 36.

Proxomitron - The end of an Epoch |
|
|
A wonderfully glorious age has come to an end unfortunately. Proxomitron will no longer be developed. The authors comments are below.
Versions 4.4 and the newest 4.5 are and forever will be available for download at ComputerCops.biz.
Soon, for posterity, all previous releases shall also be available for download from the same site.
Perhaps I'm seeking a way to obtain as many supportive users as possible to rally to Scott and try to keep this program from coming to an end.
In such an effort, please respond with your comments to this new article. Lets show Scott our support and dedication for his free work in preserving our privacy.
