image Yahoo Fights Phishing With Password Protection image
Yahoo!
a_cup writes "We may start seeing less Yahoo mail/messenger accounts being stolen thanks to Yahoos new security measures. Yahoo recently added protection for their login pages. There are many Phishing scams that present themselves as a Yahoo login page. Once signed into these scam sites the users password is taken, the password changed and the user loses his/her account.

To help prevent users from signing into a scam site, Yahoo now offers the option to use a sign in seal which allows a user to personalize the Yahoo login pages."

image Privacy: Your cookie tracked online by Yahoo! image
Yahoo!
The question in this column is about Yahoo's cookie being tracked by Yahoo not just at their site, but elsewhere. The answer by James Derk, co-owner of CyberDads:

It's actually true. Yahoo is using something called "Web beacons" or a "super cookie" that tracks not only where its users go on the Yahoo network but also tracks where they go outside of the Yahoo network using a persistent file on the hard drive. Note that you have to have a Yahoo account to be tracked. If you want to opt-out of this tracking, log in to your Yahoo account, then go to privacy yahoo.com/privacy.
