|
|
Hi everyone,
I've been offline for about 8 months (ouch) and am updating all my old programs. As the title suggests, i've just tried to update AntiVir and got a message asking me to uninstall the old version which i did. I then proceeded to try the new installation again and the same message popped up.
I downloaded Windows Install Clean Up but it doesn't show AntiVir in it's list. I'm stumped on this one, any help would be greatfully received.
Thanks
JOe

You can dowload some tools from this site at AVIRA to help you out:
http://www.avira.com/en/support/av7_upgrade_tools.html
Following the use of the tools above, use [regedit] (first save a copy) and search for and remove all AVIRA, AntiVir or H+BEDV still existing.
Be sure to download a FRESH New Program from this site:
http://www.free-av.com/
Avoid the 'Mirror' downloads listed at the top of the page and get the version for your system (Win98/ME or WinXP/2k etc..
from the lower half of the page.
| Quote: | Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic (download from Avira)
Windows NT / 2000 / XP (NT is only supported until 31.03.2007)
Date: 12-12-2006 - Version: 7.00.03.02
Download 13MB
Windows 98/Me (It is only supported until 30.06.2007)
Date: 12-12-2006 - Version: 7.00.03.02 |
I would also recommend a download of the most up-to-date "Manual Update" of signatures and Hueristic Engine,
see this site for instructions and download links for your version:
http://forum.antivir-pe.de/thread.php?threadid=12073
Finally, make sure that any Registry Protections (like SpyBot-TeaTimer) is disabled for your work, re-enable when finished.
Work Off-Line and decline the installer's Update offer, run that Manual Update after System re-boot and before going online.
