Windows Defender (Beta 2) is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. It features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it's detected, and a new streamlined interface that minimizes interruptions and helps you stay productive.
Minimum system requirements for Windows Defender (Beta 2):
- Personal computer with an Intel Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) or higher processor; Pentium III recommended.
- Operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later, or Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later.
- 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (minimum); 128 MB RAM (recommended).
- 20 MB of available hard disk space.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
- Internet access with at least a 28.8 Kbps connection.
This is a public beta test. It is highly recommended that you visit the homepage before installing and thoroughly reading the associated pages. As a beta product this may or may not provide protection to your system.
