I've been finding conflicting info on Vista's firewall - so my question is: is it or is it not configurable to stop outgoing traffic?

Oh my goodness. Actually trying to set filters using this method is beyond me I think. *Way* too many choices without enough information about what they mean. Why can't Microsoft make it user friendly?

Playing with a Firewall Options is not that much child's play you have to be a techy with some credibility. All though vista has simplified Firewall options a lot.

Simplified? I've been using firewalls for years - some are more user friendly than others, but I've never run into anything this complicated.
But I would agree that you've got to have more than a little technical expertise to configure Vista's firewall...
