I recently downloaded and installed the NIS 2008 update to my 2006 edition of NAV. The install went more-or-less smoothly: other than some odd interactions with SpySweeper (the NIS install erased scheduled SS sweeps, for example), everything seemed to go the way it should.

Since then, although I have made no other changes to my system - which has been running with exceptional smoothness for over a year - I have been getting svchost.exe and lsass.exe errors every couple of days, requiring a re-start. I have also had several instances of "not responding" errors with IE7, something that has also been a rarity until now.

I have not noted the details of the errors yet although, if it helps anyone identify my problem, I would mention that last night's lsass error referenced "status code 1073741818."

OS is Win XP SP2, and using NIS 2008 and whatever the latest version of SpySweeper is these days.

Anyone else experiencing this kind of problem, or have any suggestions?

I'm wondering if there's some kind of conflict between NIS and SpySweeper, and if turning off some of the NIS Internet shields might be an easy solution.

Thanks,
Craig
