Hello Everybody
I don't know if I'm on the right place here but I have a question and don't know where to go with it.
I guess many of you know the file-encryption-program TrueCrypt. I read a lot of it it's opensource and it has a large community and it's possible to use different algorithms and so on. But one major question is not answered "Who stands behind TrueCrypt?" I mean it's opensource and you can take a look at the sourcecode and if there would be something wrong with it I'm sure some people would went on public with it.
I read some articles about file-encryption and every time when someone suggests turecrypt there are also some doubters who suggests to use portable programs like peazip or 7-zip with passwords or something like that and their arguments are nearly every time the same they ask the question why are the programmers of truecrypt so anonymous? And of course I searched the web to get an answer to this question but found nothing. Maybe one of you can tell me more it makes me think and I'm not sure how to handle it.

I don't know programmers of the practically every software i use. Some mentions in the link below but otherwise the argument doubters put forward about not trusting software because the don't know the author is feeble
