I have a laptop runing Vista (no SP1) and am having problems running Windows Updates on the machine. I recently had to uninstall and reinstall NIS 2008 on this laptop.

Now when I run Windows Updates, it produces the following error:

--------------------------------
Windows could not search for new updates
Error(s) found: CODE 80072EE2

The only option is to "Get Help". Clicking on that shows 25 Windows Updates, all with an error and error code. The error code 80072EE2 details provides the following instructions;

Add the following websites to your firewall exceptions list;

- http://*.update.microsoft.com
- https://*.update.microsoft.com
- http://download.windowsupdate.com
----------------------------------------

How do I add these websites to NIS 2008's Exceptions list? I know how to add IP Addresses to the Trusted List, but this does not appear to be the area to add these sites.

Thanks
Gumboman

Cundi,

Dumb me! I have them added to IE7 on the laptop under Vista and the Windows Update now works - Thanks

You know, on my desktop, which runs WinXP, those sites are not listed in the "Trusted Sites" area and Windows Update works just fine on the desktop - I guess maybe a difference in Vista and WinXP?

One other question, while we're at it. The URL bar on the laptop is not set to use the entered URL to go to the site, but uses it to "search". I know you can change that to go to the site when entered and I thought I had a note on how, but can seem to find it. Do you know off the top of your head?

Thanks
