Hi Help,

I suggest you thank johngalt for rectifying your problem. I should have thought about going to Toshiba® & DLing the drivers, ect, but was in hospital for @ 2 1/2 months with a rare pneumonia, but cureable with the correct antibiotics so I had no way to contact you anyhow because there is no PC or laptop access in the hospital I was in! I'm home now, but still recovering as I could has passed on Sad

Take Good Care of You...I Am taking good care of myself as well!

Peace Help! heart

@Justin - glad to see you were on the recovering side of things, even though it is a shame you contracted it in the first place....

And no worries about not being able to help - this place is a community - we all pitch in when and where we can Razz

@Help - I am currently at school on a machine that I cannot access the site that you have linked - I do not have JAVA installed and cannot do so, and I beleive that the page needs JAVA to show me what you saw - if you can hold tight for a couple of hours I'll be home soon, else I hope that someone else can jump in here nad verify that that is what you need.

Hello Help,

this place is a community - we all pitch in when and where we can

You are dang right about that & I'm sure johngalt knows that as well. Thank you John!

CC had started in 2002. When I 1st joined I was a first responder & we didn't have many way back then because I joined @ a year later in March, 2003. I volunteered as 1st Responder for quite a while! I got tired because we didn't have that many. The ones who joined in 2002 & 2003 were quite good at what they did. I tried my best, but had a bit of difficulty with the Hijack This posts. I saw things I thought shouldn't be there, so I'd send the log to someone else. I didn't want to end up screwing up the person's PC/Laptop Sad

So after a couple of years or so, I asked Paul to resign me as 1st Responder, but now I help with Vista/Longhorn as the pure copy has 2 DVD+Rs on with 64 bit & Service Pack 1 & the Upgrade had the same as I only had Vista Home Premium. I upgraded to Vista Ultimate, the 32 bit edition because if you check your system properties, it'll tell you if your PC/laptop is a 32 or 64 bit edition. Mine is just 32 bit, so I could't load 64 bit! Sad The upgrade went well because all you do is place the DVD+R in the (ESmile drive, which is my master Lightscribe® DVD + - Writer/CD Writer I have an (FSmile drive also which I bought at Staples & payed for it really cheap...$59.99 [CDN$] & when I opened the box it was an LG® DVD/CD drive, so I installed it as slave. I have a 300gig HD & would love to have another, so I may save up & get another 300gig HD on it so I can partition it larger than 6.5gig. @ 20gig-30gig partion would be GR8! Smile

So all you do is place your Vista Ultimate in the master (ESmile drive & restart your PC & it starts upgrading your PC, but it can take hours on end, so one can take a nap! The upgrade went really well & I still have the 64 bit. Now I'm using Vista Ultimate 32 bit edition which SP1 is included, but I had DLed SP1 already on it. So where I had already DLed SP1, it did give me a problem. I had a crash, but can recover from a crash really well. It went back to Vista Home Premium, so I didn't DL Vista Ultimate yet until I have my PC the way I want it configed. Now it's @ that time! I don't think the "Pure" version has SP1 included, so you have to DL it from Windows Update, so everything will be fine. I've been working with PCs/laptops for @ 19-20 yrs. now Smile & know much more! On my old system I had Windows ME & that was a nightmare! Millennium Edition was just a thrown together copy until Windows 2000 came out soon after. I should have waited, but it had ME OEM installed on my old IBM NetVista with CRT monitor. Sad My oldest bro asked me to pick out what I wanted, as I don't like to ask for much, if anything. My Great Aunt brought him up as her son, but passed in her sleep looking out her window at the birds. She just loved birds! She left everything to older bro, but I never asked for anything, but got all her older furnishings before she passed @ 90 yrs old, but she had really bad edema & blood & edema fluids were running back to her heart, so she passed. Her GP gave her WAY too many "fluid" pills, so I told her she really only required one or 2 @ the most. She used to call me every day & ask me to go to a med site, so I'd go to my fave & tell her she should only be on Furosemide, but her GP disagreed & still had her on 3 diff kinds Crying or Very sad

Perhaps that's why my oldest bro told me to pick what I wanted as a new PC, but thought the MACs were way too expensive, so I got a Hewlitt/Packard (HP) Pavillion power machine, LCD 20" super flat LCD monitor & an HP All-In-One. It's just GR8 & just gave me that 1 prob, but I know how to properly reformat or recover from a system crash. I thought that was so sweet of my older bro because I'm sure Aunt Marie told bro all the time she'd call me to get MDs advice online. I'm sure that's why he bought me the PC, Plus he's been Foreman for Pipefitters/Welders since age 28! & he's 50 now. Same as my Dad who is 75 & retired now. Worked as Foreman in both Canada where we live & got USA citizenship & still has it because he'd go to Texas, Louisiana, ect. to be Foreman for Pipefitters/Welders. He's had work for same oil co. since age 18 when he recieved his journeyman's papers with very high grades. My 2nd bro is Foreman also , but was born in 64. I was born in 63, & am 44 & he'll turn 45 next March! Well this post is getting a tad long, but now that I'm home & better, we'll chat some more about Vista if another prob arises that I know how to fix Very Happy

P.S. [Take good care of you. I'm taking good care of me. shoot I eat like a pig, but my body needs lots of carbs, fats & sugars, so I can eat anything I like. Shoot my meds are like a meal themselves! Laughing]

Peace! heart

@Help - Umm, I looked at the page - and even at home I am seeing nothing on that page....

Wait, I may have a discrepancy - my system is 64bit, and so is my JAVA - but my browsers are 32 bit....

#$%@#$%@#$%

Let me get onto another computer and check and I'll be right back....

@Justin - wow! congrats on the new machine, and I certainly hope that I get to live as long a full life as your aunt did - and nice to know I am less than a decade behind you in age.....

OK, I am an idiot - I wasn't seeing anything there and thought it was because I was having JAVA issues lol....

In this case I would simply uninstall the current driver, and then re-install the driver, allowing Windows Device Manager to look for it on your HD (tell it to look in C:\Windows and C:\windows\system32)

Same as you would on XP - open Device Manager (and the fastest way to do this is to hold the [WIN] key down while pressing the [PAUSE] key, then from the window in the menu on the left select Device Manager *or*In Vista's Start menu simply search for 'device'...)

Find your device and right click it, select uninstall.

Let it uninstall. Now reboot.

upon rebooting it should find the new device and reinstall itself. If you get a prompt for the driver, you may need your original CD that came with the system, else let it scan both the HD and online.

Under Sound, video and game controllers. Look for the different ones, or else take a screen shot with that category expanded and I can give you an ide aof which one to choose.

Also, if there is nothing under that category, then try looking in the Other devices category.

Hi Guest, Smile

Expand ALL, then there should be three tabs. Press drivers while online & it'll as you if you want to update drivers using the Internet? Press OK & if it says the sorrect drivers are already DLed for this device ( In "Device Manager")

Do that with each & everything & make sure there are no conflicting devices from some H/W/, S/W.

That should help you quite a bit there Guest.

Have a good time. I've had to go through device manager to see if there were any newer or updated drivers I didn't have.

I have one conflicting device, but it doesn't bother my machine.

Take Care, Have a GR8 Day &...Peace! :hrt
