My WINXP SP2 machine has 2 trojans on it. I know their filenames but have not been able to delete them in the registry, safemode or anywhere. They are BHO's and I have been able to disable them in ie6 so they do not actually run. However, they start up with my system and avg keeps warning me. I also have a suspicious(to me) winlogon Notify starting up. I have been doing a lot of research and read that some trojans are using the BITS process to bypass the firewall. I surmise that may be my problem so I disabled BITS and Windows Updates so hopefully the problem will not recur over and over. If I could get the two files off my pc I could then turn BITS back on. Any ideas or thoughts? I am uploading my hijack log. The two trojan files are atraceh.dll and d3d8thkm.dll. I am new to this site and when I tried to upload my hijack logfile I got a message that logfiles are not allowed. Will someone please help? Thanks.

You MUST post a HJT log in order for us to be able to help you.

Please click Here to download HijackThis to your desktop.

Click the Download button. When the Trend Micro HJT install box appears, double click on the HJTInstall.exe. Click on Install.

It will be installed by default here: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

A shortcut to the application will also be placed on your Desktop.

The program will open automatically after installation.

You can double-click the icon that was placed on the Desktop to run subsequent HijackThis scans or you can use the icon inside the folder. The folder HijackThis is where you will find the HJT logs that you save. When you use the application to remove anything, you will also find the backup copies made by HJT inside this folder.

Click on "Do a system scan and save logfile" When the log pops up in Notepad, click on the Notepad Format menu and uncheck Word Wrap, then copy and paste that file back here.

DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Before closing HJT, please click on the AnalyzeThis button. That sends purely statistical data to TrendMicro so they can continue to improve HJT. It does not analyze your log, it simply lists what HJT finds, both legitimate software and malware. Do not take any action or try to fix anything based upon that information. Then, close the web page that appears and then close the program HJT.

I have identified 4 trojan entries: R3 Url Search-Hook {4d25.....}, R02 BHO {4d25...} d3d8thkm.dll is the file for both of these. The other 2 trojan entries are R02 BHO {56c86...} atraceh.dll and R020 Winlogon Notify ajukqlih with the file d3d8thkm.dll again. Thanks for any help. Here is my logfile:

I hope you havent all forgotten about me. I am having a tough time here. My cd drive keeps opening and closing, I deleted a registry key tonight that had about 2000 malicious websites in it. It was in a ZoneMaps Key. I got lucky on that anyway. I have tried process explorer, killbox, vundo and I cannot seem to fix these problems on my own. The vundofix said there was nothing to fix. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Guess I have to give up and try another site. I did learn a lot from following all the other threads. Thanks for that.
