Anyone have any suggestions how to remove this virus? Windows Live One Care finds it but won't remove it. Avira scanner doesn't locate it at all. Even though I use FireFox it gives me IE popups constantly, I found no way to block it or remove it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is not helpful at all. I went through steps 1-9 and I used pretty much all of those programs and it still give me the pop ups. I thought at first I could get around it until I found a real solution by switching to firefox and deleting IE completely (since the popups are IE), but even with IE completely gone, I still get IE popups. I guess silly me for thinking I could cheat the virus.
Anyone know how I can manually remove the virus? I already deleted the file that windows one live care said it was in from the registry. (c:/windows\system32\drivers\core.sys) but no change in popups.

Just in case someone has the same problem and does a search on this forum. I finally was able to remove the virus with SuperAntiSpyware. It's a free program you can download, just google it, and it got rid of the problem. Yay!
