Hi, My last pc just died and I now have a new one.

On last pc, due to the fact that I wanted to be able to disconnect from my isp, I had to use bridge mode. ISP strongly discouraged and had no clue why I would not want to be ON at all times. Very frustrating.

Anyway, due to such, with old pc and in bridge mode, so could connect/disconnect at will, I was unable to get into 192.168.1.1

Wasn't a problem until now with this new computer, I would like to change my password with my isp and to do so, must go to that page 192.168.1.1

(Also, as long as no tech problems, saw no need to worry that couldn't access page with old pc, but no clue what was the problem, or why occuring, and as well, was i unsafe in some way by being in bridge mode and no access to that page.) My isp provider (techs in india were quite upset to say the least that I wanted to connect/disconnect at will, and could not get into the page, so I just hung up as could access internet fine.)

I now have windows premium home vista and love how for whatever reason it automatically when setting up internet connection allows me to disconnect/ connect whenever desire to.

But would like to change my isp password.

I can not access the page to do it: the 192.168.1.1 as is the directions given by my isp on how to change the password is to go to that page.

I can't get there.

I believe the fix is to boot or reset my modem?

I am not sure.

If I do that, I wonder if I will lose the ability that Windows Vista gives me to connect/disconnect from isp at will.

Or what if I reset and can not access that page, then I won't even be able to get on the net?

So would like to change my isp password, would like to always be able to connect, disconnect from isp at will.

And am afraid resetting the modem, that I may not be able to access page and then would have no connection at all, and have no friends, no library, etc, no other way to access net.

As well as if reset modem to get to that page, am afraid will lose ability to connect/disconnect using Vistas software to set it up (if have to set it up again.)

If reset does permit me in that page (192.168.1.1) am afraid will have to use bridge mode there (without India's help) somewhat not knowing what I'm doing, and as well, if I recall correctly even in bridge mode, and dsconnect, the ISP would continually try to connect to it (after I disconnected) and succeeded.

I must've left something off, as somehow i was able to defeat that from occuring, but no access to the 192.168.1.1

Thanks for reading.

Appreciate any help.

blessings,
michelle
