I changed the OS on my new HP laptop from Vista to XP. After doing this, I purposely changed the bootscreen to something cooler than the stock MS bootscreen. Now, I am not getting the prompt for the uname and password when the computer is booted up. It is set to do this in the control panel but there is nothing happening when it boots. I get the password prompt when it comes out of standby mode or when it goes off of the screen saver.

What do I check/fix/do?
