I installed Norton Internet Security recently, and my computer now has long periods of time where it slows down to a crawl. I have an insane amount of RAM and space, so it's not that.

I checked my 'processes' in my task manager and my CPU Usage is at 100%, with CCApp.exe bouncing back and forth between 98% and 99% of that. Did a search for that on my computer and saw it was a Symantec file.

Do I have something set wrong? What's up with this? What can I do?

Thanks in advance!

Found on page:
Exit all running email programs.
Start Norton AntiVirus by clicking Start > Programs > Norton AntiVirus > Norton AntiVirus.
A dialog box opens with the title of Norton AntiVirus.
In the upper-left corner, click Options.
If a menu appears when you click Options, then click Norton AntiVirus.
In the Norton AntiVirus Options dialog box, under the box titled Internet, click Email.
Uncheck "Scan outgoing Email (recommended)."
Click OK.
Close Norton AntiVirus.

Try sending email.

I posted this somewhere else yesterday. ( Don't remeber where - am new Smile

I installed NIS a few days ago only to find ccapp.exe was hogging 99% cpu ( everything sloooowwwed down and i'd have to end task or re-boot), but not all the time.

Then i realised it only did this when i sent e-mail so i did the thing it says on their website (turn off outgoing mail scanning) and of course it didn't work so i went into the firewall options->programs and removed Outlook Express form the list. No problems since then.

Let me know if it works for you
