Checked this on the Symantec site and found little useful except they know of the problem but didn't appear sure as to it's cause. Fine if the PC is supplied with original disk but not this one. Note: Uninstall couldn't remove all of NAV so downloaded removal tool which did , presume it removed some common / shared files as well ??
Any ideas as to what happened . Buying new Office to get started again and loaded Kaspersky this time. Thanks.

It's quite possible that the crux of the problem was the Office plug-in (if indeed it exists in NAV 2002 - can't remember myself).

For anyone else facing problems with MS Office and NAV, you might like to try going into the Norton AV options menu and un-check the Office Plug-In. Remember though that in doing so would disable comprehensive protection for your Office apps.

I'm not an expert on NAV technicalities but something which occurred to me could be at the root of the problem.

Brendan.
