Can someone tell me if AVG will work with Eudora .mbx files.
I am looking for a non-Symantec or non-McAfee AV program that will support Eudora email message scanning as the emails are downloaded.
I checked on the grisoft.com website and it states email scanning is for Outlook mail clients only yet I could swear I have read that Eudora people have been able to use it.
If AVG will not work for me, can someone else recommend a dependable AV program?

I have downloaded a trial version of AVG Pro and see that it has Eudora plug-ins.
I have gone into Email Scanner and selelcted Eudora Plugins and configured it as I like. I clicked the "apply" button which closed out Email scanner. When I go back into email scanner, it is back to "Personal email scanner" plugin instead of the Eudora plugin that I applied moments ago.
Can someone help me with this?
Also, how can I confirm it is actually scanning incoming emails. With Norton you used to see the little icon while the messages were being scanned during the download.
Thanks in advance! _________________ NSteele

nosteele,
The trial version of AVG 7 should do what you want to accomplish.
I'm running AVG successfully with Pegasus Mail and I suspect the configuration is pretty much the same for Eudora. As I recall, Personal E-Mail Scanner is the generic plugin for e-mail clients other than Outlook.
In the e-mail client configuration, the SMTP and POP servers become localhost or 127.0.0.1 and AVG is configured for the actual server names.
In the AVG configuration, there are check boxes to select scanning for incoming and outgoing mail and to certify incoming and outgoing mail. With these boxes checked, an AVG scan message is appended to the bottom of all outgoing and all incoming messages. This confirms the scan. You can also display a log of all program activity ... which also confirms the scans.
Unfortunately, the configuration is not as transparent as with Outlook ... but with a little effort, the result is quite good.
