I clicked on a link in friends away message and seems lots of friends have done the same - it has corrupted entire computer fr other friends.
http: //xxxxxxx is the site that was clicked and now automatically adds to away message am not able to access the folders on the desktop.

I gather you cannot access your programs?

Do this. Using Windows Explorer:
Start Explorer (Win key + E or Start - Programs - Explorer). The Windows key is the one between Ctrl and Alt on the leftside of the keyboard.

With Windows Explorer (your operating system) open you can now access AVPE and run a scan.

Let us know how it goes?

Desktops are convenient but you do not really need them to run programs. I grew up with DOS.
