Howdy,

It's not down, just overloaded. The english language users have almost doubled in the last year and the servers can not handle the load. Look at the number of DLs just from CCSP - over 22,000!

Great to see the success but it's a shame that the servers are falling behind. I like AVPE but the recent update problems (since the last major program upgrade) have forced me to roll back to AVG.

I'll keep an eye on this forum for update discussion. The two problems I have seen are the current update server overload and the basic problem of large update files rather than the more typical small incremental update files. I'm sure something must be in the works for both of these situations.

Howdy,

Incremental was supposed to be out this spring but probably will show first in the fall due to a daughter business being setup to split the corporate from the personal. With the new personal pay-for there are dedicated servers for updates. I will have to talk to Paul and H&BEDV to see if they could get together and set up an English update mirror at CCSP.

Thanks for the clarification. I have read about the incremental update delay on the AVPE forum but did not know this detail concerning the delay.

Great idea. It would probably be a significant help ... and drive a little traffic to CastleCops. Wink

Evil or Very Mad This situation could so be eliminated if H+BEDV would get off it's collective ass an bring out sequential processing. Remember this was supposed to be out the first quarter of this year "if every thing went as planed". Don't hold your breath on this one. Now they indicate "autumn". If sequential processing is not out then, we should raise more hell than they have ever seen. We should post on every BB we can think of, an we should be loud an do it often.

Thanks

Hi guys,

It has been my experience that H+BEDV is a very conservative company, in the old sense of conservative. They will not do anything to limit their real market shares and tried and true profits. The reason they had provided AVPE in the first place (my understanding) was as an advertising vehicle which could help develop a paying market (as an expirement?). I think you can expect more developments such as a Corporate Network AV and Personal AV divisions in future.

It is abundantly obvious they have found a market for Antivir as a personal and individual package. You will notice they are not overly encouraging free functions, such as servers that can handle the load of all the people using the freeware version. They will only provide dedicated servers to paying customers.

You can complain that they are capitilizing on this but that's most likely why they are in business in the first place? It costs money to provide all this stuff. They also need to put bread and butter on the table, preferably in silver/gold dishes, too. Wink

Please note that the foregoing is my personal opinion and is not an official position of any kind.

Best regards

I thought they were approached about that in the past, but it never went anywhere.

Paul,

At that time there were not so many problems. Now there has been a Daughter company set up for AVPE Premium. Which is a pay for "Personal" version and split from the "Business" side of the house. As the number of users of the Classic, spoken, "Free" version has increased astronomically, they would probably be open to the help now. Here's contact info -

info@antivir-pe.de

Contact should probably come directly from you or Robin as they will more than likely want technical details that I can not provide.

They might also be looking for resellers/affiliates for the Premium Versions.

Mike, if you're working with them can you let them know?

Rolling Eyes It is my understanding that they have come out with three new commercial products that apparently have problems with obtaining updates for the English version as well. If this is indeed the case, it may be time for H+BEDV's customers to help them into going bankrupt. The free version of a product is almost always a harbinger of what the commercial product is most likely like.

Thanks
