I cannot update AVPE..during the setup process the system hangs. Also the program stops responding during a virus search. I thought i might remove the program and re-install it but i cannot do this either. Any help would be appreciated as i'm left unprotected. I'm using windows XP with SP1. I have had this installation for quite sometime but it appears as though somethings missing.

Your version of AVPE is OLD. The newest version is 6.30. Please download the newest all-in-one from here:

http://www.avup.de/personal/en/avwinsfx.exe

This will make a big difference. Post back if you have more problems getting it updated.

Note: Do not worry if you cannot uninstall AVPE. Download the newest version as per above post and install it. The new one will overwrite the old one.
