I am guessing this may have been covered somewhere else, but I am damned if I can find it so here goes.
Somehow, I have lost the control tabs for task manager in windows Xp. all the comes up when I Crl/Alt/Del is a box with the programs that are currently running. There are no tabs, and I cannot access any of the other TM functions. This is a tad annoying as I have a file that I can't delete because it is being used by another program, anyone think the two problems are connected? I have a friend who has the same problem, he is a Software system manager and he has no idea either, so any help with it would be greatly accepted, and of course be one in the eye for him because it came from me..........albeit indirectly!!!!LOL
Someone told me it could be a DLL problem, ring any bells?
All the best.

IIRC you can simply double-click on the grey area around the processes to toggle the tabs on and off. Try it and let me know.
