Hi there, if anybody could help me with this one I'd be very very grateful!! Imagine this, new pc, Windows XP Home Edicion (with licence) and office. Initially it works fine but now when I press Start / Close option, to shut down the computer but instead of closing the is like choosing the restart option! ie the computer starts automatically!! why?
the computer is new, it is not infected with any virus so I don't know what is going on... any ideas?

This can occur if Automatically Restart option is enabled or due to Roxio CD Burner Sfotware.

How to turn-off Automatically Restart --> http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_disable_automatic_resta.htm

If the above step doesnt work, check this Microsoft article.

Hello NINEU,
Like swatkat suggested it occurs due to Automatically Restart option is enabled or due to Roxio CD Burner Software. However, if it doesn't help and still restarts then it can be a problem with your power supply, but since u said its a brand new computer then i don't have a reason to why the power supply might be damaged, unless it has been damaged during assembling your pc. I suggest that you get your power supply checked if swatkats suggestion still doesnt help ya.
