Hi, i have a norton 2003 disc and a norton 2005 disc.
Firstly, my norton 2005 disc is currently being used by my sisters laptop and my friend said if i install it on my pc (i think im allowed to use a copy on two pc's of my own aslong as 1's a desktop and the other a laptop i saw in a magazine about EULA's) it will halve my sisters subscription and give me the other half. is this true because if it is i wont install it.
secondly, i have paid in may for a renewal of subscription on my norton 2003 and wish to reformat my pc. if i do this, will i be left with 0 subscripton or will it recognize my 10 months. i dont know of any registration codes etc, so i hope the program itself when connected to the internet will recognise this. Ideally i would like 12 months from the norton 2005 disc as i think 2003 is getting old now.
any info is a great help.

i would check the eula for Norton, i think it can only be used on one comp.
it should recognise the valid subscription after reformat.

Why not just go with freeware ?
A combination of spybot (immunize , hosts file and tea timer all turned on) , spywareblaster , iespyad , avast and zonealarm is 0$ and far superior to norton which will charge you every year .
Do a search for norton on castlecops and see what others have said about it . It is pretty consistent .

I can not in good conscience recommend something that I have on numerous occasions seen screw up customers , friends and family member's computers so if you insist on norton I say good luck to you , we will be seeing you here again soon .

Hi palwe,
I agree with nosirrah on recommendations.
Having said that,
The only definitive answer on splitting subscriptions etc.
will be found by reading your EULA or emailing Norton
support directly.
Bad out. _________________ MS's "New Coke"

Hi Palwe
Greetings!!!
Good and nice to hear palwe, you like Norton and me too(I love it). It works good on my Laptop for several years. You can reformat the hard disk drive and you can straight away go head and install the NAV2005 version on the laptop. Definitely it will work, to my knowledge. In Norton till 2005 version its just like livesubscribe but only in 2006 versions they made has entitlement. So what i will advice is if you reformat the HDD and install the Norton it will show u one full year subscription. Go ahead install it and if any ping me...
Regards
Peter

i did reformat, 3 times... first time because norton gave me only 3 months from norton 2005 so i had to reformat, i think it was because my friend had already used the 12 months... not sure he wouldnt say.
then 2nd time i reformat i just use norton 2003 it gave me 12 months, and it would let me download updates and no bugs what so ever unlike norton 2005 which wouldnt download them due to an LU1812 error which ive seen people moaning about here and also the LU1814, in my opinion, the only good version of norton is norton 2003, and its a blinder if you dont download lots and lots of things, which i dont, so its strong for me.
on my windows disk is msblast.exe automatically and norton has no problems deleting it (norton 2003)
