Greetings all, I've downloaded and installed the latest version of Antivir this morning and when attempting to complete an update, I get the following message at the end of the system generated report:

01.05.2007,10:15:29 - Critical error: Connection failed while downloading the file http://dl1.avgate.net/upd/engine/nt/en/avcmd.exe.gz.

In addition, the update seems to hang on the message.idx file.

Is this behavior normal?

I was able to manually updated the VDF file, so should I be concerned with the auto updating troubles?

Thank you for your time and I can provide more info if needed.

Sincerely,

DM

Their server is likely busy and the connection times out. I just got that update 10 minutes ago. Try it again and see what happens.

Thank you for the amazingly quick reply. I'll give it another shot later today and see how it goes.

Best regards,

Hi...

This has been an issue witth Avira (HBEDV) for quite some time (with the free version.) If you want updates with no hassles either buy the premium version or wait until Europe is asleep before attempting to update. Wink

Best Regards...

I had a similar problem on one system here, my Wife's, and persisted for about 6 months. Finally after running HiJackThis there came a message that sent me to http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm and I downloaded that little file and ran it. My problem was gone, all updates are doing just fine. It seems there was a *.dll file that was corrupt and after running that it is gone and all is well again.

Thank you HiJackThis and Avira's AntiVir for being there and doing a fine job. This AntiVir is the smallest foot print and STRONGEST protection I have found and it will still be on my system long after all support has gone.
