I have been using AVG-AV and AVG-AS for over one year.
On 3/26/07 when I turned on my computer, I noticed a balloon over the AVG icon in lower right of screen (which was now gray). It read:
AVG Control Center: The red high-lighted components are in an error state. Please pay urgent attention to their configuration. Resident Shielf:L Resident Shield is not loaded."
I looked in the Properties and the General section was 'grayed-out' and therefore I couldn't check the activate Resident Shield.
I had to go out and so I turned off the computer. ?When I came home that night I turned the computer back on and the AVG icon was now back to it's usual color (not gray) in lower right of screen. When I went to Properties, everything was back to normal.
Yesterday everything was okay.
Today when I turned on my computer, the same 'balloon' notice. I turned the computer off and then on again and the AVG icon was back to normal.
What is causing this 'balloon' notice about Resident Shield not being loaded?
As I said, this has only happened in past few day with no new programs being loaded.

WinXPsp2, IE6, AdAware, AVG-AS.

Hi,

More likely another program is interfering with AVG.
Have you installed any other anti-malaware or anti-trojan programs in your PC?
If Yes could you please let us know which ones.
One more thing you should make sure about is that when you're about to turn off your system ensure that AVG is set to start when windows starts next time.
This is done by right clicking the AVG icon in the sys tray and ticking the "Start with windows" option.
Overall your problem has been noted by several users!
I hope the above is of help to you.
Good luck - AGeorge
