Hi I'm doing some pro audio editing and sequencing and I would really like to know some sound cards that actually do work in the vista environment. I bought a new laptop with vista on it, spent most of my money on ram and core duo processor and now it seems my M-audio Usb Audiophile soundcard will never work with this????!

.....so pissed right now!

Try Microsoft's tool for finding Vista compatible hardware:

Hi...

I guess you could write M-Audio to see when they intend to write drivers for Vista. Since Vista is still almost brand new, it's going to be a while before drivers are widely available for it. There wouldn't be any sense of buying a new device if Vista drivers are on their way.

I've heard of some cases where XP drivers will work with Vista, although it is hit and miss, I don't guarantee it will be successful nor do I guarantee that unintended consequences won't result.

Best Regards...

ok-- looked through all the possible info sites and forums and the answer is clear: no drivers for my audio are lying around anywhere nor do the old ones work. conclusion: i bought a new edirol sound card which had the vista drivers all ready.

now the setup works like a treat-- all my audio software seems to run really smoothly.
