I think I really goofed up my computer. After being away several days and then turning on the computer (XP SP2) Liveupdate indicated I need to update, so I did, but everything locked up and Liveupdate was still open and not responding. So I shut down by holding the off key. Turning back on, NIS does not open when clicked; I tried to remove it, and could not; so, going to Norton web site indicated it would be good to update to the latest version, so I tried that, but it seems like nothing is actually installing or even uninstalling. I've downloaded and run several times Norton's uninstaller, and that does not seem to being working either (it just quits without any indication that it did anything or further instructions). Help??

I resolved the problem by going to a restore point prior to the problem. The Norton Removal Tool then was able to uninstall NIS.
