My internet connection keeps randomly timing out. I usually end up having to reset my router (linksys wrt54g) and then it works. Although I think once or twice i had to reset my whole cable modem. But 99% of the time its the router. Could someone help? Also I was wondering about something else, in my network connections page, it SOMETIMES shows an internet gateway. Other times its just the regular LAN Connection. Could someone tell me what this is? Thanks

It sounds like it may be time for a new router. They can fail, you know, and when that starts to happen, they can do strange things. One thing you can do is download the latest firmware for your router (watch the version numbers for that model, there are 4 or so different ones), and upload that. If your firmware has become somewhat corrupted over time, that will fix that problem. If it doesn't, then it may be time for a new one.
