|
|
At work they just bought some computers and told me to reformat and install Windows 2000 on the computers. I can not find a driver that is for the computer and windows 2000. Does anyone know where I can find the driver that I need?
Here is the computers they bought...

Look in Device Manager for the actual manufacturer of the network adapter they have. And, the model number should be there as well. Then download the network drivers for 2K directly from the network chip manufacturer. The most common ones are Intel, Realtek and Marvell, although you might also see nVidia, ATI or Via depending on the motherboard Acer used.
In all likelihood, the network drivers are identical for 2K to the XP ones. _________________ Don't read? Can't learn!

You are forgeting if you do not have a driver then it will not tell you the manufacturer of the device nor will is tell you the model number. All it will tell you is "ethernet controller; Device type: other device; manufacturer; unknown; ect."
Does anyone have anyother ideas? I tried to install the XP Lan Drivers but it just installed WLAN and that is no help.

The system uses the nVidia GeForce 6100 chipset. The XP and 2K drivers are both included in the installation files. The latest driver set from nVidia is here:

OK After reading your information I found THIS page and I learned that it is called "GeForce 6100 and nForce 400 family architecture."
Now with that information I when to THIS here. Under "Platform/Nforce Drivers" >> "Nforce 430/410/405/400" >> "Windows XP/2000" I found THIS page.
I downloaded that driver installed it on the computer (it uses an install program so you can not miss that part up) after the reboot it still does not work.

I think you should try the ones I suggested. The 6100 isn't the same thing as the nForce 4 chipset and the nForce Go 430 is the GPU I believe. _________________ Don't read? Can't learn!

1st thanks for all your time thus far...
2st you do now that that link that you gave me is talking about laptop mobo's, right?
3nd I read all of the pages that talk about the series 6 and there was not any page that talked about the drivers for that MOBO. I clicked on the "download drivers" link at the top of the page and looked for anything talk said "6100" "Go" or "6" but there was nothing that fit the closed was for "nforce 3".
So then I started looking around google and that is where me last post come in at...
I emailed NVIDIA over 24 hours ago and got a C&P relpy that had nothing to do with drivers. I emailed acer over 7 days ago and still nothing. I have ove 20 networkcards collecting dust but the boss said to make the ones that came on the computer. New tech on Windows 2000.....grr....I hate my job...

Pretty sure they have all gone to that page already, but you have to update the chipset drivers first, then it should work. Just did that to my Aspire T180 and it did the trick.
