do you still have that put away somewhere where you can access it?

i have some pictures in there i liked so i archived them there.

one was a picture of the Elk in the BITTERROOT FIRE in OREGON;
they are standing in the middle of the BITTERROOT River to keep from getting burned in the fire.

the photo was taken by a bureau of land management employee during a survey of the fire.

i found it online but it is not as good as the one which was posted here.

When i saw that thing i couldn't help but feel the danger those animals were in that day.

what a mess!

we have had our really bad forest fires around here in Southern Oregon,
and we lose a lot of wildlife to the careless folks that go out in the woods.

Of course there are the fires started by lightning strikes too.

thanks for the compliment,

but that Forest Service worker, John McColgan,
deserves all the credit for having the presence of mind to shoot the picture when he did.

Thank you, John McColgan, where ever you are. cheers Bow

I am in total agreement with regards to your credit to John McColgen and the work he and his colleagues do. I would certainly like to see the photo archive when Paul gets a chance to bring it back online. Smile

Well it really isn't all that spectacular.
there are personal shots in there and people used to upload their own things to it like the labels of different beers and such and i remember a picture of a ford called the blue oval or something like that.
LOL!!

What if Paul were to start a new photo gallery with all submissions being considered on their merits ie content/interest value before being posted. Idea

Should we run a new subdomain just for photos? With my new camera, I know I'd love it.

But don't you think it should be monitored in some way in order to keep the standard of downloads at a high level. Question

I know that this type of thing has nothing to do with security/computer issues but it would, IMHO, enhance the diversity of the site and further encourage Member participation.

try your idea of a sub-domain;

that should be ok.
and it keeps it off the ccsp main stream of traffic.

does that sound about right?

uploading something with a piece of malware in it won't affect the main site.

does that sound about right?

post back.

I also think a sub- domain would be the best option.

I was thinking more of quality when I suggested monitoring downloads vis-a-vis the photo of the deer against one of a beer label!

You could have a vote for 'photo of the month' and different category sections (or am I being a tad over the top there?)
