Have you noticed that since Sunbelt ackuired the Kerio firewall all the changelogs from one version to another (4.3.268 an forward) are the same?????
* Corrected issue in which registration fails when firewall is enabled.
* Significant improvement in network performance when web filtering is enabled.
* Enhanced Process Injection prevention to prevent code inject attempts into Windows system DLLs.
* Corrected numerous application crashes in the firewall service.
* Corrected various crashes in assist.exe
* Corrected issue in which setting password and checking for update does not cancel authentication form.
* Corrected issue in which binary data appeared in logs.
* Significant improvement in product stability.
This has been the changelog for every release, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?? that they haven't changed anything or that everything they change they do wrong and have to do all over again???
And what about all the other issues users complain about??? When will they be addressed?? Lile Stealth being lost when Gateway mode is emabled, or loosing al connectivity when running a P2P program with multiple active connections, or the leaks that the firewall has????
COME ON!!! is time to get to work for real or to at least give us a straight answer, don't you think?? after all you are expecting us to PAY for the firewall........................

Why do you think Sunbelt is selling off SPF at such a low price ?
They are trying to make as much money as possible before dropping the product, stringing everybody along with useless 'updates' for as long as they can. I have wasted my money, my subscription (full price) is until Feb 2008 but I have removed SPF from my system & use something else. I just don't trust security software that is almost 2 years old.

Yes, I agree. BTW you say you're using something else... would you share?? The reason I ask is because I'm trying the beta versio 3 of the Comodo firewall, but even though I think It's good I'm still open to suggestions...

IMHO, CFP3 will be (and probably is at the moment) the best software firewall around (paid or free).

I posted this message on another section of Castlecops, here it is again:
The Sunbelt Personal Firewall is a more stable, more robust firewall today than it ever was before.
Numerous enhancements have gone into this product. While you haven't seen any cosmetic improvements, there have been vast optimizations underneath the hood.
Vista? Yes, it's really tough. Really. But we're almost there.
In the future, if you're not happy with the product, feel free to ping me directly.

MasterTB,
Ever since we (Sunbelt) acquired Kerio, we've had numerous releases, currently shipping v. 4.5.916. While the technology we acquired from Kerio was basically very sound, there were numerous stability, performance and vulnerability problems that had to be fixed. We realized we had to fix these issues in order to get the product to the level of quality expected by Sunbelt customers. Given where we started, version 4.5.916 by far represents the finest state of quality of product to date. In terms of stability and performance (measured by speed and blue screens), the product is light years ahead of where it was 2 years ago. We've also made improvements in leak test vulnerabilities as documented here by Matousec: http://www.matousec.com/info/advisories/Kerio-Multiple-insufficient-argument-validation-of-hooked-SSDT-functions.php
We've fixed numerous other leak tests as well.
You are right about one thing, though, we haven't done a very good job of communicating to the Kerio/SPF community details of all the fixes and feature enhancements we've made as well as our roadmap for the product. Guilty as charged. What you have to understand about Sunbelt is that we spend way more resources on improving our software than we do on Marketing hype. That's been the culture of our company.
So here's where we are now: We've spent the last couple of months getting our product ready for Vista 32-bit and we're planning on releasing a beta version within a week or so - the product is in QA testing right now. In addition to supporting Vista, we've made numerous other leak test fixes and bug fixes to again improve the quality of the product. I will personally make sure a detailed list of all fixes and feature enhancements since 4.5.916 are posted here and in the product release notes - probably more detail than you ever wanted. We are looking to release a Vista 64-bit version, but we (like a lot of our competitors) are working to figure out the handling of M$ PatchGuard "feature". Once released (we're targeting the end of October), we are then focusing on making the product the best in the market against zero-day threats as well as extrusion prevention. More to come on that later. We are working to make SPF the best firewall product on the market.
I appreciate your comments and concerns. If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to contact me directly: mathewt (at) sunbelt-software (dot) com.
Best regards,
Mathew Thomas
Director of Engineering /Sunbelt Software

As a new user of SPF, I am pleasantly surprised with the performance of the product. Although it does not pass all the leaktests out there, it is very light on resources and I hope it stays that way!

OK now, first of all, Thank You Mathew for taking the time to say a word to us. I am now much more comfortable with the waiting period for the new version of the firewall.
So.. don't get me wrong but I know you have corrected numerous issues with the firewall since you bought it from Kerio, and I lnow this because I used the firewall since Kerio and I still used it when you bought it, so I've noticed some changes, even if they don't shine, still this words you wrote make it easier to realize that you still care about it, and it's nice to read them every once in a while.
My main concern is that there are some issues still at large with the architecture of the firewall that are really important and haven't been addressed, like the firewall not being able to keep the stealth status of the machine when running on Gateway Mode to allow ICS, which by the way is something most of the remaining good firewalls can do, and even the built in firewall on WinXP SP2.
Last but not least, rest assured that even thow we complain, we still love the firewall and trust it, if we did not we wouldn't be asking you to fix it

Security software should stop using deprecated features like kernel patching!!!!!
