I’m gonna go off topic here but we found it pretty funny.
I drafted an email to send to the Korean University site Admin and used google to translate it from English to Korean. I thought this was a great idea and promptly sent it off. It wasn’t until a little while later I decided to retranslate it back from Korean to English..just to see how accurate it was. Turns out our company threatened an all out military attack if they would not comply with our request…..Opps!! I guess that’s one way to get a site down promptly.
I guess i work for a company that is bigger then most and say smaller then Ebay or PayPal.
most team members are multi lingual..
So getting sites down isnt that hard in other countries, and we find sites in the US just as hard as say cn or kr. US service providers at times seem reluctant to help because of privacy issues. It does however help when you work for the company that is being targeted... easy to prove.
How ever the lang issues are easily fixed.
At one point we did use an external take down service worked ok.. Just didnt seem to have there "heart" in it.
Its really about your orgs ability to "wear" the pain. If its a big deal internally.
for example atm we are having issues with a US provider whos response was "Yea we normally dont deal with phishing very fast. if we dont take it down in a couple of weeks let us know again..."
tell me about it....almost makes you think "they" (err...I wont repeat it..lol) are the culprits - and want to charge "you" the end-user to shut down the "bad guys"...
