The text of the message posts is a lot larger than it used to be, say, about 3 weeks ago or so.

Probably not noticeable to me because I have my fonts sizes fixed.

Cops_1024 shows large fonts.
Cosp_800 show normal fonts.

Cops_800 has not been worked on.

Ctrl and - (minus), or Ctrl and mouse scroll wheel makes a difference.

Thanks for that information - the CC forum looks "normal" again Smile

It also makes the text in the blue side panel smaller/larger, but for me that is not a problem.

It's not a big deal to just enlarge, click a link and 'ensmall' again if it does prove problematic.

PostPosted: Fri Mar 28, 2008 3:26 pm    Post subject: formatting in Opera 9.26
Reply with quote

Hi Paul,

I've been living with a formating problem when viewing the site in Opera. (At the moment I'm using 9.26.) When I view posts on CC, all the lines appear to be centered. This does not happen with Firefox. I have been wondering why the problem has persisted through several upgrades of Opera.

Today, I got a strong hint. While searching for browser problems involving margins, I turned up a demonstration of a problem with inherited margins in IE! http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer/inherited_margin.html

After viewing this, and a demonstrated work around for site designers, I logged onto CastleCops and found the posts left-justified. Could there be a problem with your CSS which uses a bug in IE inherited formatting to set justification? If so Firefox must copy the bug and Opera hasn't fixed the problem because the behavior is not their bug, but, rather, a lack of standards compliance in IE.

Don't have the fix ready. It will take time to track down the problem in the source. Sorry, I'm not a CSS guru.

I have noticed something really strange (and this may be only in Fx 3b4, I am not 100% sure yet)....

When viewing forum topic lists, about every 5 or size topics there is a missing grid lines, so that ti appears that 2 topics are actually in the same row on the background of the forum.

I can attach a screen shot if need be....

Screen shot is from a 1600 X 1200 screen. I highlighted the missing grid lines - it seems to occur pretty regularly, but it wasn't 5-6 lines as I first thought.
