Dear People,

I received an alert from ym Mcafee that said i had a trojanotbe removed. It asked me to restart and it still has not fixed the problem.

my microsoft automtic updates are turned off and i tried and tried to turn it back on and it will not.

i get pop ups that i have never gotten before.

also, it seems as though when i am typing there is a delay what i am typing and it coming up on the screen.

my firefox will not work at all. it shows that it is "done" but nothing appears.

i have some friends who recommended you all to help.

i hope you can as i am working on a project for the end of school right now and i am VER handicapped with this problem.

thank you in advance for all you do.

peace,
lilly

Hi lillywhitesell,

Welcome to CastleCops! Smile

I go by markamus here. I will be glad to assist you with your computer problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you want your problems solved quickly, and I will work hard to help you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

  1. I will be working on your malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues with your machine.
  2. If you don't understand something, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  3. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  4. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  5. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absense of symptoms does not mean everything is clear!

If you can do these things, everything should go smoothly Smile

I am currently reviewing your log and will have a reply shortly.

Thanks,

markamus

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

  1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log.

That's possible.

Let's try downloading Combofix from another mirror.

Please download Combofix from one of these locations:

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

* Take note that the links are case sensitive

Save ComboFix to the desktop.

Note: It is important that it is saved directly to, and run from your desktop.

In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it as this is a new version.

* Close any open browsers.
* Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

1. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
2. When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
3. Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang. Do not proceed with the rest of the fix if you fail to run combofix

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

markamus
