That is good that you posted that message for me. I would like you to go to this link and follow the directions. Pick a "last known configuration" date that you know the computer worked properly.

When you are done, tell me how things are working and if the booting problem resolved.

If you have any questions on the directions on that page, let me know.

Sorry for not getting back to you right away. I was on call for work and ended up working 18hrs yesturday.

I also need to go through that long log yet.

Okay i think i should just kick myself.

I did a search on System Restore and followed the instructions on how to restore to a point.

I did that.

Then, i reverse it to what it was originally.

Problem :
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/preceptor/no_user_name.gif

And my Avast stopped working.

Please tell me i didnt messed up my system ...

I am sorry i went and did that ...

I am sorry that I did not give you a link. I was tired and just plain and idiot. Sorry about that. When you did the system restore, did that help with the booting problem?

This is the link I was directing you to: (I would like you to do this, that way we can eliminate this as a source of the problem)

System Restore doesnt seems right, i get that last screenshot i posted, so i reverted back.

Regarding the "last known configuration" thing, i get that maybe once in 5 reboots, and i choose that option too.

No effect sadly ...

Btw i did a SFC /scannow

Seems better but those error messages are hanging around.

Go to the link I suggested and follow the directions. Make sure you do step #2 also.

Tell me exactly what the error message tell you outside of the Avast issue.

Go to Start>Run and type:
services.msc.
Look for and Pause the WMI service.

Make sure you can view system files by doing this:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Then with Windows Explorer (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer) go to this file:
C:\Windows\System32\wbem
In that folder, find and delete the Repository folder. Go back and restart the WMI service that you had just disabled and reboot the computer.

Now below I attached a file. I want you to download it and save it on your desktop. The file is zipped so right click on it to extract the file. Once you have done that, right click on the extracted file and Cut. Now go to Windows Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Windows\system32 and paste the file there. If you are asked if you want to replace a file that is already named that, say yes.

Reboot.

Now tell me how things are working and if you run into any problems with the directions above.

Hi Taz,

I am assuming WMI means "Windows Management Instrumentation" and not the "WMI Performance Adapter" Service.

I did every step, no hiccups.

Seems that i dont have the reboot problem already, I will update you as we go along.

Regards

I want you to go to this link and follow the directions and let's see if that fixes things for you:

http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-red-circle.html

Let me know.

Explain the "No user name" thing to me again. Tell me exactly what is happening with that.

Hi Taz,

When i am having the 'No User Name' name problem(which is after every bootup), its impossible to do what the Avast Website suggest because all options to restart, start, stop is not available.

I need to wait like 10 minutes before the "No User Name" problem is gone from the Task Manager, then everything will be back to normal.(I can start my MSN, Windows Automatic Updates will prompt, I can do what the Avast Website says, etc)

But the fishy thing is, i can use Firefox to browse the Net when i am having the "No User Name" problem.

I will also have a prompt that ask me to login to my computer after booting up sometimes, which should not happen since i am the only user.

Regards
