Hi eagleeye.
We need some more information.
What O.S are you using? How are you connecting your pc to the modem? Has the connection worked before or is it new?

Do you have a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware software? Was you system working OK before this happened?

This can be virus related, are you sure you are able to communicate with your router, have you tried to reset your cable modem & router, unplug the power from each of them wait 30 sec. plug the modem in first wait for the lights to go solid, then plug the router in.
Are you able to open your e-mail or anything else, if so it could be a virus if not then you are not connecting to the router or modem.

Download this stinger to a floppy then run it and see if it gets any hits.
It is a zip file and will fit on a floppy, put it in the problem puter go to A drive open it unzip it and run it.

It will be hard to detect & delete viruses with out of date virus software.
McAfee Stinger

OK
Give me a little more info.

Do you have SP2 installed?

Go to Start>Run>(type)cmd>(type)ipconfig /all (notice the space before /)
Check to see if you have an IP & Default Gateway address (do not post them) just tell me if you do.

What model of router do you have?

Have you reset the defaults on the router?
There should be a little button you can pust with a sharp object, push and hold it with the power on until it resets.

Can you connect to any other sites?

You can reset the security settings.
Control Panel>Internet Options>Security tab>Internet Zone>Custom Level>Reset to medium>OK>Apply

Check to see if the site you are trying to open has been blocked.
Click the Privacy tab>Sites button>see if it appears in the blocked list.

Ok
Lets go this route then.
Do you have a Cat5 cable and a RJ45 connection on your computer.
Try to hook your computer to the router with cable and see if that will work, if not then hook the computer to the cable modem and see.
We need to narrow it down to the modem, router or computer.

What kind of network card are you using?
Are the cards built-in or are they external?
There has been know issues with network cards and SP2, have you been to the card's website and updated the drivers?

If your laptop is starting to do it then chances are it is the router.

You can enter the settings to the router by clicking this link http://192.168.1.1 Leave the User Name blank and type admin in the password.

When the router is opened make sure it is set to Obtain IP Auto.
Then click the Status Tab, Click DHCP Release, Click DHCP Renew
Close page turn off computers and unplug power from router wait 30 sec. plug in and restart.

ok man here it is...im able to get online by connecting my CAT 5 cable directly from the cable modem into my laptop. Thats how im still able to talk to u. I have no clue what this can be. So the problem is either my wireless adapter card or wireless router right? The wireless card i use is the type you just slide in on the side of a laptop (I believe its PCI right?, it's a linksys as well (FYI) ). I'm not able to connect to my router via the link you gave me. What else man.... o ya to access the net man i have to sit down stairs in the basement....so if you or anyone else might know a quick fix let me know ....thanks again for all your help.

OK
Good deal at least we know there isn't a computer problem.
I do not know which model of card you are using, but you are having a common problen that is with the SP2 install.
Uninstall the current drivers you have installed for your card and go to this Linksys page and choose the card you have, click on the card model then look on the right side of the page that opens for a driver download link, if it is the card I think you have then the drivers were updated in Aug.

Download the updated drivers and see if that will solve the problem.

Most of the major manufactures of networking cards have been working overtime to get there drivers updated for SP2.

You can add an e-mail addy to your profile.

You have either got a serious virus problem or a corrupt registry or both.
I am thinking it is both with a the winsock corruption in the registry.

I can not send the driver for the network card to you because I do not know what model of card you have.

All I know is that you have a cable connection with a Linksys wireless G router and a Linksys wireless card.

I want you to go to Control Panel>Internet Options>General Tab>Delete Cookies>Delete Files, put a check in the Delele all offline content>Advanced tab>Restore Defaults>Apply>OK

See if you can download these virus scanners and ad-aware removers update & run them.

Ad-Aware Removers (download, update & run all 3 )(remove everthing they find)

CW Shredder - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html

Ad-Aware SE - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

SpyBot S&D - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

Virus Scanners Free

Trend Micro - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

McAfee - http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9913

Here is a free Registry cleaner that I have had good luck with, download & run it with care though.

EasyCleaner - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download414.html

Follow these instructions in order.
Let me know.
