This site has been a bit slow -- under attack? You know who has been submitting regularly. Do you want to give us a direct email so we can continue to feed you phishing URL's?

The site was slow, but not due to a DDoS attack. The Castlecops' site now appears to be running as normal as I post this. Please submit phishing finds as normal on the PIRT form.

Hi there,
I am attached to an IT Security company in Malaysia. We are very interested to be apart of this movement. How can we play a role? Please advise.
Thanks
Regards,
Andrew

Hello everyone,
Just to give you a bit of an update. Parties interested in becoming a PIRT handler can contact myself or Paul or reply in this thread. If you have already replied in this thread and no one got back to you, please send me a PM.
We will be asking for some personal information. All PIRT handlers are vetted. If you are not willing to give us your real name, references etc please understand you will not be considered as a handler.
We are looking for people who can dedicate at least 5 - 10+ hrs per week.
We do provide training and expect that our guidelines and procedures will be followed.

I am interested in the handler program. I would like to find ways of fighting phish before an attack actually comes my way.

I applied for a PIRT Handler position since Sep. 18,2006.
Had some contacts with Castlecops (by email) but no further answers.
I think I was rejected...

Sign me up. I'm already part of Knujon and SpamCop. Oh, and I have plenty of spam catching email accounts. I've been doing this for years on my own, now I'd like to get organized.
Thanks,
-The Rev.

I've been doing this quietly on my own since my children started using the 'net. I have a degree in computer science and am looking for a way to get back into the game after being out for a while. Whether you want me or not, I'll probably send information your way. Let me know.

I don't believe anymore in your offers.
People, don't trust them, they promise but don't deliver: I applied to be a PIRT handler almost one year ago and NO ANSWER until now.
Getting out from your group forever.

if they are fraudulent, then they did a good job fooling
the Anti-Phishing Working Group, Response Team (AusCERT), CERT / Software Engineering Institute / Carnegie Mellon University, ClamAV, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Firetrust, IronPort, Infotex, Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), etc. etc. etc.
and the media.
did you at least get a refund?

There is nothing fraudulent about PIRT, MIRT, SIRT, WsIRT or any of the other projects we run here. The reality is we are a volunteer organization. We do not have paid HR that is vetting people, that would be me. We do not have paid people doing training, that would also be me or the few handlers which have agreed to participate in training as mentors, we do not have someone who is sitting here 24hrs a day creating the necessary accounts and permissions for the *IRTs - that would also be me. In addition to ensuring the documentation for each is correct and doing the law enforcement training, on top of everything else we do here. Paul and I are the only ones that look after the servers, we are the only ones who jump on it if we come under an attack.
It is true that marlonborba applied last fall, however at that time I was not the Team Lead. Since last fall it passed through three other people before I took it over and I am making my very best effort to have some things delegated so people don't have to wait as Marlon has (he is not the only one)
I'm not going to apologize for recently having a baby. Nor am I going to apologize for taking a few days off with my family (the first vacation we've had in three years) Paul and I (at least one of us) are pretty much always here and always working. It is unfortunate that some of you have had to wait to get a response. The reality is there have been many people who have come to me and told me they are ready, they want to do it they are committed, and then when they find out what we do they complain it is too much work, or they don't show up for training sessions, or I never hear from them again after taking the time to set everything up for them. This is a two way street, just because you aren't getting paid doesn't mean my time, or our other volunteer staff's time, or Paul's time isn't worth something. My time is worth a great deal to me, and I make every effort I can to ensure that I have a healthy work life balance, I'm sorry that isn't appreciated by some of you, there is only 24 hours in a day. I love my husband and children they will always come first.
As to refunds, we don't charge anyone for the *IRTs, so getting a refund for it isn't a possibility.
Marlonborba you were not rejected, in point of fact I was thinking about you this morning. Given that we are not only in different time zones, but we are also in different hemispheres finding an appropriate time to call your references can be a little challenging. If your references didn't mind talking to me at 3am I'm sure we could have sorted this out long ago. I'm sorry that your application fell through the cracks so to speak. You and I both know I contacted you about a month or so ago to ask if you were still interested.
