Hello , I have a problem with computer freeze . My computer freezes during video games ( after five mins of play .) , during virus scans , software installations and freezes multiple times upon resetting after the initial freeze . I have Norton , which freezes mid way through scan , and have tried Micro trends online scan ... same result freeze . I cannot control alt delete when the computer freezes . I also have Ad-aware and spybot . Which work irregularly .
The sys spec are as follows P4 , 512 ram , Win Xp sp2 .
I have been told I may have a corrupted win file . Which may have occurred during defrag .
I would like to avoid re installing windows if possible .
What happens if the system freezes during the re install of windows ?

Thank you .

Hi. About how long have you been experiencing these problems. If a defrag did cause it, we may be able to restore your system to a time before the problem began.

In order to help you we need a HiJackThis log posted in hi jack this forum!!!!

You will be posting the HiJackThis log in the HiJackThis forum: CastleCops Link/f67-Trend_Micro_HijackThis_Logs.html

Read the HJT forum posting rules: CastleCops Link/postt8864.html

Download HiJackThis from : CastleCops Link/downloads-file-328.html

Create a folder and unzip the HiJackThis download to the folder. Do not unzip the HiJackThis download to your Desktop or the Temp folder - it won't work.

Doubleclick "HijackThis.exe". First, update HiJackThis by pressing the "Config" button, then press "Misc Tools", followed by "Check for update online". If you downloaded an updated HJT, click "Yes" at the "Open the file?" prompt. If you did not update, press the "Back" button .

Press "Scan".When the scan is finished, use "Save Log" button and save the log as a text file. Its best to save your text file in the same folder as where you put HiJackThis.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YOURSELF UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO ONLY BY A CCSP EXPERT. MOST OF THE HJT LOG ENTRIES ARE NEEDED TO RUN YOUR COMPUTER. REMOVING THE NEEDED ENTRIES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

Post your log in the HiJackThis forum : CastleCops Link/f67-Trend_Micro_HijackThis_Logs.html. Click "NewTopic" and simply copy/paste the HJT log into the textbox. Include the information requested in the HJT forum posting rules: CastleCops Link/postt8864.html

<blink>Make sure your HJT log is posted only in the HiJackThis forum:</blink> CastleCops Link/f67-Trend_Micro_HijackThis_Logs.html.
(I Borrowed this)

Split one HijackThis Log off of this thread already.

Do NOT post HijackThis Logs here.

Thanks. Wink

**To the person who did put their HJT Log here search for "Computer Freezing Repeatedly" in our HijackThis Forum.
