Just to let you know ... I recently switched from AVG 7 to AVPE, so I'll be hanging around here a bit.

It's obvious that Originalwildman has pretty strong feelings about the Updater process ... and he makes a good point about the size of the Updater files. I'm sure the upgrade is a matter of development time allocation.

In my case, I'm using AntiVir Scheduler to check for an update once per day. It happens automatically and it's rather transparent to me. It could certainly be more of an issue on a dial-up connection.

The current Updater method would certainly not be a sufficient problem for me to abandon AVPE ... and it does look like an upgrade is on the horizon.
