My info first:
I have Windows XP SP2
I have AdAware SE, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, CWShredder, ZoneAlarm and I was using AntiVir until I goofed it up.
My info was
Program: 6.27.00.04
Scan 6.27.0.12
VPF file: 6.27.0.80
AVRep.dll: 6.27.00.24
Since my goof it only says
Control Program 6.30.00.01
The build only has: n\a
The date 2/17/2005 is out beside the Control Program now.

It all started when I tried to update this morning. I got the same problem as it seems many other have had. My AntiVir Guard was not working. So I search the problem in Google and found several places were it seemed a common thing. Well I read on here that I should try and unistall it and then try a reinstall. I did but where I screwed up is trying to delete any left overs in the registry. I can almost hear your groan at this point. I should not have even tried this but I did. I went to find and typed in AVPE and deleted all of those then back to find and typed in AntiVir and got rid of them. While I was doing this I found something from Norton and I went ahead and got rid of that since I had removed Norton's along time ago.
Then when i restarted the computer and tried to reinstall AntiVir I stated getting error messages.
One is: _VWUPSRV.EXE has expierenced a problem and must close. When I tried to re-remove it it can't find files now.
After all this when I double click on the desktop icon it says:
Error in opening of definition file.(It's possible it does not exist) then I hit okay, It says: It is tried to re-create a backup copy. Then after I hit okay again: To backup files failed.
I know I've really made a mess of things but I hate to bother you guys and I thought if I followed the advise in other topics I could do it. To give credit where it is due. I did not pay enough attention, when the previous topic said to clean all of it out of the registry they also suggested using a Powertool ( www.jv16.org ) I did not obviously.
I appologize in advance for any thing I have left out. I would be more than willing to included any more info you need.

One more thing I found a post on AntiVir help site saying the new update is out today.I do no see where to download it at though. This is what I found.

yesterday 6.30.00.05 came out.
Today 6.30.00.10 .
when a new version comes i deinstall the old antivir and then install the new version.
In the long run its faster.
Has antivir changed something .
will there be a new version everyday or this is a
temporary thing.

Thank you so much. I looked forever for the english version and could not find it anywhere. It installed okay this time but my AntiVir Guard is still not active. I went in and checked the box to load the guard at start and the hour glass comes up for a sec and then the whole configuration box goes away. When I go back to check on it, the box is still unchecked.
My info now shows:

Build 1026
Main Program 6.30.00.10
Search Engine 6.30.0.5
Virus Definition File 6.30.0.13
AVRep.DLL 6.30.00.09

Is this the latest version or do I need to do an update?

I let the lukeskywalker run. It took approx. 130 min but found nothing. I feel lucky after spending most of the day without any anitivirus protection. Thank you for your help and support. I'd be lost without this site. I've learned alot but obviously have a ways to go.
I'm sorry I'm being a pain.

I just found this under log file in the Antivir Guard not sure if it will help.

I've ran and installed the internet updater. It seemed like it went smooth but the same problems exist. I seen a place under the scan tab where it says "update drive list" could this help me?
On the log file from AntiVir Guard that I posted before it said "error - the device driver could not be loaded"

Lets try this. Go to free-av.com again download the all-in-one again and install it over the old install without removing anything.

I'm having a hard time getting onto that site again. I keep getting parts of the page to open or the Cannot find server. I'm starting to doze off so I will try this again in the morning. Thank you so much for your help tonight. I will be back first thing tomorrow.

It's fixed. It took 5 hours of trying to get on the web site and only a few minutes to download it again. I didn't think it worked at first, the guard was still not active and I was getting an error saying there was no disk in the drive??? . Then I restarted and it was fixed.

Can I get a suggestion from you. I think I have a memory leakage. (not even sure if I'm wording that right) Do you know how I can test this ?
