Now that I find hard to believe based on my own experience. Only a minority of my SPAM is fraudulent attempts to get my confidential info.

Although I too suspect that number might be on the high side, I wonder how much of the neverending daily flood of this cr@p is exactly that. I get easily 60 pieces daily without trying! It would be impossible to sort and investigtate each piece.

I would imagine that the "low mortgage rate" and "eliminate debt" spam is probably classifiable as phishing. I consider it to be a pretty low grade, though, and have not spent any time really investigating any of it.
