|
|
My computer hosed up (XP) and I had to reinstall to get it to boot again. It wouldn't give me the Repair installation option, so I ended up with a new profile. The old one is still there, but inaccessable. I can't even see the security properties because the Security tab is not there. Can anyone tell me how to get access to this old profile with all my data? Would love to recover my original desktop, documents, preferences, email, etc.
Thanks,
Ron

Welcome to Computer Cops Hosscomp. Try Snakefoot's suggestion on this page (scroll down to Restore an existing profile after reformat). Let us know if this helped.

Thanks OrphanAnnie. That did it. I will repeat the part about permissions.
| Quote: | How to Disable Simple File Sharing
Click Start, and then click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings section, clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.
Click OK. |
Thanks,
Hoss
