I find the installation of antivir 6.3 a bit confusing. One dialog in the install routine asking about something about dailup services, is this the for updating?
Most important is when the install gets toward the end, it runs some kind of memory test?, and the screen freezes and I have what look like errors regarding my nvidia display adapter (something like nv*** drv, I don't recall the specific file) and the av says it has to close.
To get out of this I had to manually push the power button, resart didn't work. On boot things appear to be ok, but I was nervous about a bad install so I did a restore and deleted all antivir files. If I try to install again how do I avoid this apparent conflict? Maybe install in safemode? What is this memory test for?
This is on WinMe.

Howdy,
AVPE has problems with some older nvidia drivers. Make sure you have the newest available driver for your card. I will try to find the best version to run on ME if you can give me your card info.
The prompt about dialers is do to a C&D that AVPE got here in Germany and they now must ask if you want to install the dialer protection modul of AVPE. Please install it by checking yes as it is one of the best dialer detectors around.
The mem test is done after a new program install and once completed a full scan will start. You can stop the full scan if you want to. _________________ "Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat."

Thanks for the reply and info about dailers, this is indeed a nice feature to install.
As to the my video card, it is a geforce ti4200. The driver i'm using, 40.72, has worked really well and I hate to change it. Some nvidia drivers I have tried have messed my system up. Do I need this memory test/ scan?
It looks like I may have to try another av.

Howdy,
The best driver to use with ME and nvidia is the 40.09 version. This version also works with AVPE quite well.

That scan is needed as it is possible to have a virus in your Master Boot Record (MBR). Almost all AVs have an MBR and memtest scan. If your system works with the 40.09 driver then I would give AVPE a chance. _________________ "Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat."
