I need to adjust the partition of my HD with Partition Magic 7, however when my computer reboots I get the message that my Antivirus program must be still turned on. How do I turn AVPE off so I can finish adjusting the PM partitions?

My settings are
Main-6.31/00.03, 10.05.2005
6.31.0.9, 11.07.2005
VD 6.31.0.183, 11.07.2005
6.31.00.170, 11.07.2005

My OS is WinXP Home.

Help!

Hi texasclaw,

Do the following:-

1) On AntiVir's main GUI, click Scan Settings\Miscellaneous and uncheck the box 'Load the Guard at system start'.

2) Click Start\Control Panel\Performance & Maintenance\Administrative tools\Services (or, instead, you can type services.msc in the Run box) and in the Services box double click 'AntiVir Service'(AVGUARD.exe), to bring up the Properties box, then click the 'Stop' button to stop the Service; finally set the drop down menu in 'Startup type' to 'Disabled' and click O.K. to exit.

3) While you're in the Services box, do exactly the same for the AntiVir Update service (AVWUPSRV.exe) and stop and disable that also.

With the above done you should have no AntiVir processes running in the background.
