Hi,

Okay first of all I'd like to say I have registered here before. I don't remember my uname and password, but I have the email with that information in my account. This leads up to my current problem. I have seen this problem with some other people on this site and decided to search the net for a solution before trying here (just so I don't waste your time). Nonetheless as you could have figured, I did not find a solution. The problem I have is that I cannot seem to login to anything, (Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, etc.). The funny part is I AM able to log into sites like Nexopia and Xanga. I also have a problem logging into certain programs such as MSN and Steam (Steam is a program that runs servers for a game called Couterstrike). [Side Note - It appears that Steam will log in but when I open Counterstrike it is unable to connect to the master server]. I tried looking through my internet security options as well as install Firefox to see if that would work, both with no success. So now I'm here asking for your help. I did the HiJackThis log and here it is.

P.S. I also ran AdAware, and I went to Symantec.com and did a virus scan.

My father and I searched through the internet options and have come to the conclusion that it is nothing in there.

I tried that and it still didn't work. Sad. I did seem to notice that after trying to log in there is an 's' on the end of the http in the URL.
ex (https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?). Maybe that has something to do with it?

Thanks for you efforts.

I doubt that will have anything to do with it. The "s", is just a secured page.

Have you tried to log in with any other browsers, like Netscape?

Yes I have. I downloaded and installed Mozilla FireFox with no success. I'm stumped.

I must say, thanks again for taking your time to help me with this problem.

Hello Guest,

Clear/delete your browser cache files (temporary internet files in IE) and cookies. Reboot.

You might also have a JavaScript problem.

Make sure that JavaScript is enabled in your browser:

http://www.grangehill.com/javascript.asp

Turn off/disable your ad-blocking/popup-blocking programs. Also make sure that your other internet-related software (firewall, privacy, web filtering, etc) have JavaScript enabled and/or are not disabling/blocking JavaScript (and/or cookies). Do not turn off/disable/bypass your firewall. Smile

Would that have anything to do with the Mozilla not working also?

CastleCops Link/s5308-CCPROXY_EXE.html

Can this be blocking all your cookies?

Still got the problem... Sad... The question is... how can it be a cookie problem if I am only unable to login to certain websites... some sites I can log in... I think I might just goto the extreme and format the comp... but like I said... its the extreme and I really dont want to do that...

Cookies can be a problem if they are being blocked by either your browser or a third-party internet-related program (firewall, privacy, web-filtering, etc). Some browsers and some third-party programs can be configured to allow/block cookies (and javascript) on a site-specific basis.

Paul noticed that you have Norton Internet Security (NIS) installed - that program has some features that may be causing your problem.

If you need help configuring NIS, you might try downloading and referring to the manual for your version of NIS:

Try going to (in IE) Tools > Internet Options. Then tab to Security. Then, click on Restricted Sites. Make sure that CastleCops.com is not in the list.
